C.R.S. Section 22-61-101
Discrimination in employment prohibited


(1)

No person, agency, bureau, corporation, or association employed or maintained to obtain or aid in obtaining positions or teachers, principals, superintendents, clerks, or other employees in the public schools of the state of Colorado; no individuals conducting or employed by or interested directly or indirectly in such an agency, bureau, corporation, or association; and no board of education, trustee of a school district, superintendent, principal, or teacher of a public school, or other official or employee of a board of education, directly or indirectly, shall ask, indicate, or transmit orally, or in writing, the religion or religious affiliation of any person seeking employment in the public schools of the state of Colorado.

(2)

Any person who or any agency, bureau, corporation, or association which violates any of the provisions of subsection (1) of this section, or aids or incites the violation of any of said provisions, is liable for each violation to a penalty of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars, to be recovered by the person aggrieved thereby, in any court of competent jurisdiction in any county in which the plaintiff or defendant resides; and such person and the manager or owner of or each officer of such agency, bureau, corporation, or association, as the case may be, for every such offense also commits a petty offense.
