Examination as to qualifications

(1)

Every person desiring to practice podiatry in this state shall be examined as to the person’s qualifications, except as otherwise provided in this article 290. Each applicant shall submit, in a manner approved by the board, an application containing satisfactory proof that the applicant:

(a)

Is at least twenty-one years of age;

(b)

Is a graduate of a school of podiatry at which not less than a two-year prepodiatry course and a four-year course of podiatry is required and that is recognized and approved by the board;

(c)

Has completed one year of a residency program approved by the board as established by rules promulgated by the board;

(c.5)

Has passed an examination approved by the board as established by rules promulgated by the board; and

(d)

In the two years immediately preceding the date the application is received by the board, has been enrolled in podiatric medical school or in a residency program, has passed the national examination, has been engaged in the active practice of podiatry as defined by the board, or can otherwise demonstrate competency as determined by the board.
