Section 25-47-101
Definitions
(1)
“Administer” means to directly apply an epinephrine auto-injector to the body of an individual.(2)
“Authorized entity” means an entity or organization, other than a school described in section 22-1-119.5, C.R.S., or a hospital licensed or certified pursuant to section 25-1.5-103 (1)(a)(I)(A) or (1)(a)(II), at which allergens capable of causing anaphylaxis may be present. The term includes but is not limited to recreation camps, colleges and universities, day care facilities, youth sports leagues, amusement parks, restaurants, places of employment, ski areas, and sports arenas.(3)
“Emergency public access station” or “EPAS” means a locked, secure container used to store epinephrine auto-injectors for use under the general oversight of a medical professional, which allows a lay rescuer to consult with a medical professional in real time by audio, televideo, or other similar means of electronic communication. Upon authorization of the consulting medical professional, an EPAS may be unlocked to make an epinephrine auto-injector available.(4)
“Epinephrine auto-injector” means a single-use device used for the automatic injection of a premeasured dose of epinephrine into the human body.(5)
“Health-care practitioner” means a person authorized by law to prescribe any drug or device, acting within the scope of his or her authority.(6)
“Medical professional” means a physician or other person authorized by applicable law to prescribe drugs in this state or another state.(7)
“Pharmacist” has the meaning set forth in section 12-280-103 (35).(8)
“Provide” means to supply one or more epinephrine auto-injectors to an individual.
